The earth moved last night. Around 12:30am, I was woken from deep slumber to find he bed shaking around and the walls creaking. The epicentre was up in Tohoku, where it was a M6 quake, and there was nothing much more than a rumble here in Tokyo. So it was hardly a talking point at work this morning.
More importantly, the final Harry Potter book has finally been released in Japan, which would explain why there were very serious businessmen type people wearing silly wizard hats outside a bookshop in Shibuya yesterday morning.
I went for a walk from home last weekend (in the heat) to explore the local neighbourhood, and ended up at Nakameguro. The Meguro River runs through the area lined by sakura trees. Imagine this in spring – imagine the number of people… (I might be one of them…) There are some really cool boutiques and cafes along the streets on both sides of the river, so will be nice for lunch or after work one night.
Some readers might have noticed (particularly if you are picking up my RSS feed) that I’ve been putting up (and then deleting) a lot of test posts recently. I’m trying to work out how post by email from my mobile phone, which would mean that I can write posts from anywhere. There are some things that I see when I’m out and about that I know would be great mobile subject matter – the pink Porsche parked in someone’s parking space in Sakuragaoka the other evening being a good example. But I’m having some technical problems, mainly due to my Docomo phone sending email in a non-Western character set (even when text is in English). If anyone has any bright ideas about how to 1) get WordPress to recognise a UTF-8 character set email post and format it correctly, 2) get WordPress to clear the inbox after each email post, and 3) set up a cron job, please let me know!
The other technical problem I’ve had is with my photo albums. I had a great plugin working, called Fotobook, which used to import by Facebook photo albums into my blog. Great plugin, as it formatted the albums, imported the associated comments and gave each album its own page. But recently, it’s stopped recognising my albums, and I can’t seem to get it back. Neither upgrades nor installing the new WordPress 2.6 have worked, so I think I’ll have to wait until a new version is released. However, in the meantime, I have got an alternative photo album viewer installed (which you will have seen in my last post with To no Take photos), and I’ve refreshed the blog with a new look.
Sorry to hear you’re having issues with Fotobook. Could you give me some details on what’s going on?
