I seem to have visited all of Japan’s three largest Daibutsu (Big Buddhas) in the last several months. That is, unless there’s another one out there that I don’t know about.

Tourguide to Enoshima
My parents have come to Japan to visit, and I’ve been babysitting them around Tokyo for the past few days. I’ve tried to introduce them to some of the places in Tokyo that I frequent, and get them out and around to see some of the sights.
Around (Tokyo) Bay in a Day
On Saturday, it was by bike around the Yamanote Line in a day. On Monday (Seijin-no-hi – Coming of Age Day – public holiday), it was leaving the bike behind, and travelling around Tokyo Bay in a Day.

Daibutsu
17 years on, and the old fella (Nara’s big buddha) is still in there drawing the crowds. Today, there seem to be many European tourists. I’ve never seen so many foreigners here before. About time I headed away from the crowds towards the lesser visited parts of Nara Park on the walk home.
