On the way to Tokyo
I’ve checked in, said my farewells, and am now sitting waiting for my flight. The last week or so has been a mad rush of moving out of home, packing, and trying to catch people.
Adelaide Airport systems test
I decided to go away before I go away, so I’m currently enjoying the free wireless connection at Adelaide Airport to test the blogability of my travel equipment. All seems to be working ok so far.

Expectations of Adelaide
I’ve had my expectations of Adelaide uplifted this last weekend. I spent a weekend enjoying the fine weather, the excellent food and wandering around looking at grand old buildings.
Anzac Day dawn service at Villers Brettoneux
My parents are currently in France, and attended the first ever dawn service at Villers Brettoneux. It’s worth clicking on this link to Dad’s post, where he describes the experience, and posts some photos of the dawn service.
Kragerø
Kragerø is a town in Norway, to the south of Oslo, where my great-great-grandfather was born. It’s a good story – Rudolf Andersen was apparently 12 when he joined the merchant fleet, became a sailor and left Kragerø to see the world.
Tackling the Tanglefoot Track
Today Shewey and I walked the Tanglefoot Track, which is a bushwalking track that runs along Mt Tanglefoot, near Toolangi and Healesville. The forest here is largely mountain ash, with beautiful myrtle beech and tree fern rainforest pockets in the gullies.
