Local festival in Nakameguro

Sunday was a sunny day in Tokyo, which was good for a lot of local festivals that were being held around my neighbourhood.  In nearby Nakameguro, I came across a small festival based around a jinja (Shinto shrine) called Kitano Jinja.

We saw a mikoshi being carried around the streets of Nakameguro.  It was only a little one, but everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun.

There was a food stall set up, next to a taiko (drum) on display, near the Meguro River.

I didn’t know of any jinja immediately around the Meguro River in Nakameguro.  Then I found it.  This was the “Kitano Jinja”, and the centrepoint of the festival, but looked more to me like a converted shopfront.  Maybe there used to be a jinja on this site years ago.  Things were being packed up when I took this photo, hence the lack of activity.
