The problem with sakura is that they are too photogenic!

Sakura-ga-oka Sakura Namiki
Here are some photos taken tonight from my mobile phone camera of the hill leading up from Shibuya Station to the Sakura-ga-oka district – appropriately named at this time of year, with the row of cherry blossoms.
Hibiya Park lunch
It’s 20 degrees, sunny, and I’m having lunch in the park. This friendly cat just arrived and sat down next to us, probably wants food!
Shibuya sakura festival lanterns
Everyone’s waiting for spring! Pink lanterns sponsored by local shops herald the upcoming cherry blossom festival (28 March) in Shibuya.
Nemo not on the menu
Tried to get into a Balinese restaurant last night in Ginza, but it was full. Don’t think Nemo would have been on the menu anyway.
Snow in Tokyo
It’s snowing in Tokyo. Those white specks on the umbrella are unmelted snow flakes! It’s not cold enough to stick, but it’s the first time this season.
Spring is coming
This is one of the first plum trees to bloom in Hibiya Park. Unusually warm weather in Tokyo is probably speeding them up this year. It got to 23C on Saturday!
Love hotels & fugu restaurants
What do fugu and love hotels have in common? I was struggling to find a direct link, but on the way home from dinner last night, I found a fugu restaurant located right next to one of the most gaudy love hotels in Shibuya.
100 yen fortune
I’m at a Korean restaurant for some bbq extravaganza. On the table is a small machine that dispenses fortunes for 100 yen. It lights up and spins around, and releases a small rolled up piece of paper that looks like it’s just been detached from a carrier pigeon. And my fortune?
Shimbashi steam loco
This is CII292, the old steam locomotive in the square outside Shimbashi station. It’s a perfect meeting place if you’re going to hit the town at one of the many local bars and restaurants.
