Boating on the moat
I’m having am enjoyable afternoon boating on the outer moat near Kagurazaka in the winter sunshine.
Have an adjectival Christmas
Christmas in Japan brings elaborate and beautiful decorations and displays, perhaps even of a higher quality than other countries that traditionally celebrate Christmas. Many shops are decorated; it’s largely a commercial event. After all, Christmas seems to be largely about giving a present to your kids, or taking your girlfriend out for a date (and giving… Continue reading Have an adjectival Christmas
Yoyogi Park didgeridoo players
All sorts of performances and displays can be found in Yoyogi Park on a Sunday afternoon. Even then, I was surprised to find a bit of local Australiana a few months ago – a group of guys playing their didgeridoos.

Unagi restaurant

Autumn at Mitake-san again
Mitake-san is a mountain in western Tokyo Prefecture with a grand, old Shinto shrine on top. It’s become sort of the place in the hills that I head towards when I’m not imaginative to head anywhere else. Tried and trusted, there is a network of pathways through the forest, taking in a few mountain tops,… Continue reading Autumn at Mitake-san again
Rainbow Bridge to Odaiba
I found out recently that it’s possible to walk across the Rainbow Bridge. On a nice sunny afternoon, what better way to explore Tokyo than walk across the bridge to Odaiba? On reaching Odaiba, I found old Edo-period fortifications, a beach, and a Statue of Liberty scene that didn’t quite resemble New York…
